Filtered Access: Frequently Asked Questions
Here are the answers to some further questions you may have:
What's with the "2000"?
Many people think that the 2000 is just a cheap take-off of the new millenium and Y2K and all that stuff, but it actually refers to Christian-Net's new filtering servers, the R2000 by X-Stop.

How can you guys charge $15.95 when everybody else charges almost twice that?!
Most other filtered ISP's probably could charge this, but they have far too much overhead to be able to afford to do so. We don't have that much overhead so we can charge $15.95 and our company will still be fine.

What kind of service will I get for $15.95?
Christian-Net uses the largest, fastest, and most reliable dial-up network in the world to provide their access. To find out more about their backbone, visit their dial-up network's website here. Christian-Net's e-mail and web servers run on Solaris machines and their filtering system is operated by R2000 servers by X-Stop. We feel you will be VERY impressed by the caliber of service you receive from Christian-Net.

What do you mean by one e-mail box and 10 addresses, aren't they the same thing?
An e-mail box is a physical place of storage on Christian-Net's computers.... a place for your mail to be stored until you pick it up. An e-mail address (or alias) simply forwards mail sent to it into your existing box. So.... you get 11 total addresses for mail to be sent to, but only one box to download it from.

Are all the connections 56k?
Yes they are. All of Christian-Net's locations are 56K supporting the v.90 and kFlex protocols. Your actual connection speed will vary depending on your line conditions, modem drivers, and distance from the dial-up location.

How can I see this great user interface I keep hearing about?
All you have to do is click here. This is the exact same thing you will see if you choose to become a Christian-Net customers.... actually, you're welcome to use their interface even if you're not signed-up with them.

How does Christian-Net bill me?
They will bill you $15.95 a month automatically by credit card. When you first sign-up you will be billed for your first month immediately, and you will be billed $15.95 on that same day each month.

Does Christian-Net offer discounts for advance payments?
No. They only bill monthly by credit card and they do not offer any discounts for paying in advance for any length of time. Realistically, the standard monthly rate is already a substantial discount off the rates offered by most filtered access providers.

Do I have to pay by credit card?
Yes. Christian-Net is not able to offer any alternative billing options to their customers at this time. Keep in mind that if you have a checking account with a Visa or MasterCard backed debit card, you can use that to sign-up.

I don't want to use my credit card number on the Internet. Can I sign up over the phone?
Sure. Even though Christian-Net has the most advanced SSL security available for their signup system, they respect your desire to not use your credit card on the Internet. If you want to sign up over the telephone, just call their office at 888-259-3271 and they will put you into their computers directly. Just be sure to give them our ID code, cn1113, when you sign up.

How can I cancel?
If for some reason you need to cancel your account, you can send Christian-Net an e-mail or call their offices and they can cancel your account within 24 hours. However, to ensure that you will not be billed in the next billing cycle, you need to cancel your account at least 10 days before your next billing date.
